AUS vs. IND: Jasprit Bumrah dropped a single catch to give Marnus Labuschagne a life.© Twitter
After retiring for 244 runs in the first inning, Jasprit Bumrah fired Australian starters Matthew Wade and Joe Burns, helping India get into Day 2 dinner with greater confidence. While Bumrah deserved all the praise for providing India with two advances, his misjudgment at the fence moments before the dinner break denied the team a crucial wicket from Marnus Labuschagne. The incident occurred in the penultimate end of the first session when Shami threw a brilliant short delivery to Labuschagne. The Australian hitter went straight ahead of Bumrah on the fine leg fence. The ball went to Bumrah at a fairly easy height to catch, but the swift pitcher unaware of where the ropes were made a complete mess and rolled over the fence, giving Australia an easy limit.
Here’s how the incident happened:

Previously, resuming their innings with an overnight score of 233 for six, India lost the final four wickets by just 11 races, with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc both adding two wickets apiece to their already impressive tally at the Day 2. Starc finished with four wickets for 53 races, while Cummins finished with three wickets.
India started bowling with Umesh Yadav instead of Mohammed Shami and that became a huge topic of conversation on social media. As Umesh threw consecutive maiden overs up front, he couldn’t force batters to play the balls as most of his deliveries were out of place.
Promoted
Shami, who came in as a first-change bowler, started to cause some problems for Australian starters. He threw in great tandem with Bumrah and the latter caught Wade and Burns’ leg within two overs.
Australia was 35/2 at the end of the first session on Day 2. However, things could have been worse for the hosts if Bumrah had held on to that catch on the fence, but would hope to make up for that with his bowling in the remaining sessions. . .
