The Audi Q2 will be offered in India with a single 2.0-liter TFSI turbo petrol engine generating 190 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque.
Audi India confirmed its plans to bring its entry-level ‘Q2’ SUV to the Indian market earlier this month after launching a number of car previews. The Q2 will become the most affordable Audi SUV to go on sale in the country and its official reservations have started in Audi showrooms for an initial sample of Rs. 2 lakh.
The Q2 is the smallest Audi SUV for sale globally, which means it ranks below the Q3. The car is built on the VW Group’s MQB platform and measures 4,191mm long, 1,794mm wide, 1,508mm high and has a 2,601mm wheelbase.
While Audi recently introduced a mid-life facelift for the second quarter for foreign markets, in India we will only be able to enjoy the pre-facelift version of the car and it will be the fifth product from the German luxury automaker east year. Audi has also announced that the introductory “Peace of Mind” benefit includes a 5-year full service package, 2 + 3-year extended warranty and 2 + 3-year roadside assistance as a courtesy.
The revamped car with foreign specs gets a slightly updated design, as well as a new 1.5-liter turbocharged TSI petrol powertrain that generates 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. However, Audi will offer the Q2 in India with the same 2.0-liter TFSI engine that performs tasks in the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace in India.
This engine generates 190 hp of maximum power, as well as 320 Nm of maximum torque, and is coupled to a 7-speed DSG as standard. The powertrain is paired with a Quattro all-wheel drive system and the upcoming Audi Q2 is claimed to go from zero to 100 km / h in just 6.5 seconds.
As for features, we expect the Q2 to be equipped with dual-zone climate control, a digital cockpit instrument cluster, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, ambient lighting, MMI touchscreen infotainment system. Audi Navigation Plus with connected car technology, the Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, as well as a suite of driver assistance systems.
Audi is expected to price the Q2 between Rs 30 – 40 lakh (ex-showroom), which will see it undermine entry-level SUVs from other luxury manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, etc.
