In 2021, Indian Railways Will Allow The Public To Ride Mumbai Premises! After the New Year celebrations are over, a decision will be made on allowing the general public to travel on local suburban trains in Mumbai, Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said on Thursday. He was quoted in a PTI report as saying that the number of new COVID-19 patients in the financial capital is decreasing day by day, adding that the number of new asymptomatic patients from the new coronavirus is high now. Chahal further said that in view of this, once the Christmas and New Year celebrations are over, a decision will be made on allowing ordinary people to travel in the local suburbs of Mumbai.
At present, only certain categories of people, including those working for essential services, can travel on local trains on Mumbai suburban network. Chahal expressed concern for large numbers of people in Mumbai not wearing face masks even during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The administration will have to impose a night curfew if people did not follow security protocol for the new coronavirus, the Mumbai municipal commissioner warned.
