Attack on Nadda’s convoy: MHA orders a central delegation for 3 IPS agents from Bengal | India News

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of the Interior (MHA) convened three west bengal IPS officers to serve in central deputation after alleged security breaches that led to attack on BJP president JP Nadda’s convoy earlier this week. The three senior officers, Rajiv Misra, Praveen Kumar and Bhola Nath Pandey, were responsible for the security of the BJP chief.
Several vehicles in Nadda’s parade were damaged and BJP leaders and workers were injured by protesters throwing stones and carrying TMC flags in Sirakol as the BJP chief was traveling to Diamond Harbor to address a public meeting two days ago.
Following the attack, the Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar sent a report to the Center on “extremely disturbing developments” in the state.
According to the report, the MHA summoned West Bengal on Friday Chief Secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay and DGP Virendra, asking them to come forward on December 14 for an explanation on the state of law and order.
Registering a protest against the Center’s subpoena, Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee on Saturday wrote a letter to the Union Secretary of the Interior Ajay Bhalla, who reports to the Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, saying that the Law and order are state affairs and the Center cannot summon officers for any type of discussion.

Among those called to the central delegation, Rajeev Mishra, an IPS officer from 1996 was IG of South Bengal and Praveen Kumar Tripathi was DIG of Presidency Range.
The attack on Nadda’s convoy has become the latest flash point between the BJP and the ruling TMC ahead of next year’s state elections. The BJP claimed that the incident was planned by TMC supporters, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party workers hinted that it was the saffron party that organized the attack.
