At a Rajasthan Congressional feedback meeting led by Ajay Maken, Ajmer police had to disperse party workers who allegedly smashed posters and raised slogans against Health Minister Raghu Sharma on Wednesday. One section claimed that some members were detained.
Rakesh Pareek, MLA from Masudha Congress, came to the police station and asked to release the workers. Then, along with his followers, he sat outside the police station.
However, Ajmer Police Superintendent Kunwar Rashtradeep said there were some who were tearing up posters and as a precaution they dispersed them. The officer denied that the members had been arrested.
The incident occurred outside a hotel in Ajmer, where AICC Congress general secretary Ajay Maken, along with co-chair Vivek Bansal, state party chief Govind Singh Dotasra, Minister Raghu Sharma and Pramod Jain were conducting a feedback meeting to strengthen the party organization.
Addressing the media, Pareek said: “When we left the meeting, we learned that the supporters of the leaders were raising slogans. The police misbehaved some of the workers in the Masudha constituency. They were also asked to remove their clothes, what crime have they committed?
He said: “Lifting the slogans of Sachin Pilot Jindabad cannot be a crime. No leader is involved, but some judgmental officers. There is no BJP, they were all Congressional workers here, they (the officials) did it to get a good job. We will talk to the CM, pilot, head of the state party and inform Ajay Maken. This is an intolerable act and action must be taken against those responsible ”.
A leader on condition of anonymity said that some people first tried to enter the interior of the meeting and when denied they shouted slogans against Raghu Sharma and broke posters.
Maken had met with the workers and leaders of the Ajmer division today and will meet those of the Jaipur division tomorrow.
