Assam Rifles jawan killed after team ambush in Arunachal Pradesh


An Assam Rifles staff member was killed and another injured after an ambush by suspected Nagaland-Isak Muivah National Socialist Council (NSCN-IM) militants in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning.

According to the Arunachal Pradesh police, the incident took place near the village of Sanliam under the Lazu police post in the early hours. Police and army teams rush to the scene.

“The incident occurred between 7 am and 8 am. According to the reports available to us, a member of the Assam Rifles staff was killed in the attack, ”said an official from the Tirap police control room.

The 6th Assam Rifles team was reportedly ambushed as they were returning from their patrol duty on the Indo-Myanmar border.

This is the second attack on Assam Rifles personnel by militants in Arunachal Pradesh this month. One Assam Rifles staff member was killed and another wounded in an attack on October 4.
