Barpeta Congress MP Abdul Khaleque, also wrote to Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to demand the termination of Gupta for his “very communal” and “Islamophobic” of the letter.

In a letter dated April 30, N D Patowary, deputy secretary of the department of political affairs, issued show cause notice to the other members referred to in Gupta of the letter after the FIR. “This law is not to the height of a responsible FT Member, since that can lead to the lack of communal harmony,” Patowary wrote. “You are hereby directed to show cause why you should not face disciplinary action for this act of yours,” he said.
