A 26-year-old aspiring television actor reportedly died by suicide in his rented apartment in Andheri on Sunday, police said. According to the police, Akshat Utkarsh, a native of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, had financial problems due to lack of work and had borrowed money from friends and family. No suicide note was recovered, police said.

Utkarsh, who had moved to Mumbai two years ago, was staying as a paying guest at Gokul society in Andheri with owner Sneha Chauhan for the past six months. On Sunday night, Chauhan told police that they talked for a while, after which Utkarsh retired to his room around 11:30 p.m.

Senior Police Inspector Someshwar Kamte from Amboli Police Station said: “When Chauhan got up to go to the bathroom later, he found Utkarsh dead in his room. After the police were informed, Utkarsh was rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead. ” The body was sent to Cooper Hospital for an autopsy, according to reports, according to which he died by hanging, police said. The police have recorded the statements of Chauhan and Utkarsh’s uncle, Vikrant Kishor, who had arrived in Bombay to collect the body.

Police said Chauhan, in his statement, said the actor was stressed out by the lack of job opportunities and was running out of money. “Utkarsh was stressed and had borrowed money from Chauhan, his family and friends, so it is suspected that he may have ended his life,” said Kamte.

Amboli police have filed an accidental death report and are investigating the matter.
BN Tiwari, president of the Federation of Film Employees of West India (FWICE), said that Utkarsh had not yet made a mark on the film industry. “Not much is known about him in the film and television industry,” he said.
