As Covid Cases Rise, Government Plans SOP for Festival Season | India News


NEW DELHI: Amid the growing number of Covid-19 cases across the country, the government is now concerned about the upcoming festival season. The issue was discussed at the Covid-19 ministers group meeting on Saturday and the Health Ministry is likely to issue separate notices soon.
The Ministry of Health will also develop standard operating procedures for members of Parliament and sessions of the legislative assembly that comprise Covid protocols and preventive measures. Deliberating on the coordinated efforts of the Center, states and UTs to contain the spread of Covid-19, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said the case fatality rate is at its lowest, 1.8%.
“In the month since the last meeting of the Government of Mexico on July 31, we have made great progress in containing the disease. Up to 26.4 lakh have already been recovered. The country’s fatality rate is at its lowest level of 1.8% and the consecutive recovery rate has risen to 76.4%, ”Vardhan said.
He informed the Government of Mexico that with the creation of sufficient health facilities, the health infrastructure has been greatly strengthened. Furthermore, only 0.3% of cases are on ventilators, 1.9% are in ICU and only 2.9% of cases are on oxygen. More than 9 lakh of samples were analyzed in the last 24 hours and this has led to the total accumulated number of tests exceeding the four crore mark, he added.
Empowered Group 1 Chairman Dr. Vinod K Paul briefed the Government of Mexico on the Covid vaccine development process in India and around the world. “The Bharat Biotech candidate vaccine based on inactivated viruses acquired by ICMR is in a phase II trial together with the candidate from Zydus Cadila, which is based on viral DNA. The Serum Institute of India’s Oxford vaccine candidate is already in a phase III trial, ”said Paul.
