New Delhi:
Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement that the AAP will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022 has triggered high-intensity verbal duels between his party leaders and the ruling BJP. Kejriwal today launched an all-out attack on Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his claim that the country’s most populous state has been handling the coronavirus situation better than AAP-led Delhi.
“Yogi Hee Our great work on the coronavirus situation is being praised in the streets and mohallas of Uttar Pradesh. Like you, we don’t do fake corona tests, “he tweeted in Hindi.
Yogi Adityanath had compared the death rates of UP and Delhi, in an excavation to the AAP government in the national capital.
“Despite being the most populous state, UP has given the best results for managing COVID-19. Two months ago, the state had 68,000 active cases and now there are fewer than 18,000. UP has performed the maximum number of tests; we have the lowest positivity rate and the lowest mortality rate, “he was quoted by the ANI news agency.
“If you compare this with Delhi, UP has a population of 24 crore and has 8,000 deaths, while Delhi, with a population of 1.75 crore, has recorded 10,000 deaths,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal MP Manish Sisodia has said that he will visit Lucknow next week to discuss with UP Education Minister Satish Dwivedi on the development made by the two governments in the field of education.
“Shortly after Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcements, UP ministers invited us to a debate on education. I accept the challenge and will visit Lucknow next Tuesday to discuss the educational models of Delhi and UP,” Sisodia told the PTI news agency as saying.
The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is concentrating its attacks on Kejriwal’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Delhi, one of the hardest hit cities in the country.
On Tuesday, UP Minister Sidharth Nath Singh called Mr. Kejriwal “a habitual liar” and an inefficient administrator.
“He is a habitual liar, while his inefficient administrative skills have been thoroughly exposed, especially during the COVID-19 crisis,” he had said.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which won 62 out of 70 seats in this year’s assembly elections in Delhi, is trying to expand its base in states such as Punjab, Goa and now Uttar Pradesh. Earlier this week, the party won a seat in the local body in Goa. “This is just the beginning,” Kejriwal tweeted, reacting to the success of the match.
