MUMBAI: Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami withdrew his advance bond statement presented to the Mumbai court of sessions Goswami had requested relief in connection with a case recorded by the city police for allegedly resisting arrest and obstructing public servers of his official duty on November 4.
The motive was “simply withdrawn” and the defense did not cite any motive. His wife has also withdrawn her pre-arrest bail statement.
Last month, the NM Joshi Marg Police Station in Mumbai had registered an FIR against Goswami, his wife, their son and two other people for allegedly assaulting police officers and trying to obstruct them when they arrived at his home in Lower Parel to arrest him in a 2018 case.
An Alibaug police team had arrested Goswami in connection with a 2018 case of alleged incitement to suicide. Anvay Naik an interior designer who had worked in his television studio. He was later released on bail in that case.
The police searched him and his wife under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (Assault or criminal force to dissuade the public servant from fulfilling his duty), Section 504 (intentional insult to cause breach of the peace and 506 (criminal intimidation) and under the Damage to Public Property Act.
