A bank headed by Judge Chandrachud said that Goswami, Nitish Sarda and Parveen Rajesh Singh should be released on provisional bail with a bail of 50,000 rupees. In addition, he ordered the Police Commissioner to ensure that the order is followed immediately.
The SC added that Arnab Goswami and two others should not tamper with the evidence and cooperate in the investigation to aid the suicide case.
Goswami has reached out to the SC after the Bombay High Court on Monday refused to grant him and two other people in the case a provisional bond and asked them to move to the local court to obtain relief.
In addition to the Maharashtra government, Goswami, who is housed in Taloja Prison, has made the Center, the Alibaug SHO Police Station, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and Akshyata Anvay Naik as parts of your appeal.
The three defendants were arrested by Alibaug police in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on 4 November in connection with the suicide of architect and interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018 over alleged non-payment of fees by the companies of the accused.
In addition to requesting provisional bail, the journalist and other defendants had also requested instructions from the higher court to suspend the investigation of the case and annul the FIR against them.
The higher court will hear your pleas seeking to overturn the FIR on December 10.
Goswami was arrested on November 4 at his Lower Parel residence in Mumbai and taken to Alibaug in the neighboring Raigad district.
He and the other two defendants were later brought before a magistrate who refused to send them into police custody and placed them in pre-trial detention until November 18.
Goswami was initially kept at a local school designated as a COVID-19 quarantine center for Alibaug Prison.
He was transferred to Taloja jail in Raigad district on Sunday after he was allegedly found using a mobile phone while in judicial custody.
