In a humane gesture, the Indian Army delivered yaks and calves that were diverted through the Royal Line of Control in Arunachal Pradesh into China, the Indian Army Eastern Command said on Monday.
The eastern command said Chinese officials thanked the Indian army for the “compassionate gesture.”
“In a humane gesture, the Indian Army delivered 13 yaks and four calves that crossed the LAC on August 31 in East Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh to China on September 7. The Chinese officials present thanked the Indian Army for the compassionate gesture.” the Eastern Command tweeted.
The situation with China has been tense and India is continuously engaging with them at the military and diplomatic level, Army Chief General MM Naravane, who visited Ladakh to review the situation, said on Friday.
India recently overtook China by taking control of a strategic height near the southern shore of Lake Pangong. It thwarted an attempt by the Chinese army to transgress in Indian areas near the southern shore of Pangong Tso near Chushul in Ladakh.
India and China have been at odds since April-May over transgressions by the Chinese army in multiple areas, including the Finger area, Galwan Valley, Hot Springs and Kongrung Nala. The situation worsened after 20 Indian soldiers died in violent clashes with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in June.
Talks between the two sides have been going on over the past three months, including five talks at the lieutenant general level, but so far they have not yielded any results.
