Apple AirPods Max on-ear headphones launched in India. They were previously rumored to be called AirPods Studio. The launch of Apple’s new over-ear wireless headphones was anticipated after several reports hinting that Apple might release a new piece of hardware today, December 8. The AirPods Max were announced globally and will begin shipping worldwide and in India on December 15. They have already been listed on the Apple India online store in five color options: Pink, Green, Blue, Space Gray, and Silver. Pricing in India has also been announced.
AirPods Max price in India and availability
The Apple AirPods Max have been listed on the Apple India online store for Rs. 59,900. They will be available for purchase through the store and other Apple resellers beginning December 15. The pair will ship with a specially designed “smart” case, which has an open lid, along with a Lightning to USB-C cable for charging.
Globally, the AirPods Max Pro wireless earbuds are priced at $ 549, which works out to just under Rs. 40,500. This, of course, does not take into account customs and logistics, so a direct conversion does not make sense.
AirPods Max Pro Specifications and Features
Apple’s first on-ear headphones are claimed to deliver high-fidelity audio. The machined aluminum ear cups are said to be attached to a unique suspension system that flexes with the stainless steel headband, which is covered in a breathable knit mesh canopy, to accommodate a wide range of head sizes. AirPods Max helmets have an “acoustically optimized” mesh that surrounds the magnetically attached ear pads. Apple says the material combination provides a superior passive seal for a better noise-canceling experience.
AirPods Max are equipped with Apple’s custom 40mm dynamic drivers and its proprietary H1 chip. The headphones have a total of nine microphones, eight of which also help the Active Noise Canceling (ANC) feature to block out noise in all directions. It has a single button push transparency mode similar to that also found in Apple’s True Wireless Stereo (TWS) headphones, the AirPods Pro. The wireless headphones connect using Bluetooth v5.
The AirPods Max have spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, which essentially uses accelerometer and gyroscope sensors to track head movement and optimize sound in real time. They have optical and position sensors to detect when the pair of ears is removed, or when a headset is lifted, to pause the sound. And also adaptive equalizer to optimize the sound for different genres of music.
In addition to a dedicated noise control button for switching between ANC and Transparency mode, the AirPods Max have a digital crown on top of the right ear cup for playing / pausing / skipping tracks, activating Siri, and most importantly, controlling volume with precision. The wireless earbuds claim to offer up to 20 hours of listening time on a single charge with ANC enabled. According to Apple, five minutes of charging time provides about an hour and a half of listening time.
