India banned 43 of the apps on Tuesday, including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s e-commerce app Aliexpress, in a new wave of web sanctions amid continued tension at the border.
“We strongly oppose India’s repeated use of ‘national security’ as an excuse to ban some mobile apps with a Chinese background. The Chinese government has always required Chinese companies abroad to abide by international standards, operate in conformity with laws and regulations and comply with public order and good customs, “said the Chinese embassy.
“We hope that the Indian side will provide a fair, impartial and non-discriminatory business environment for all market players from various countries, including China, and rectify discriminatory practices that violate WTO rules,” he added.
With the latest move, India has banned 267 apps in addition to getting countries like the United States to follow suit.
Those ordered blocked include the best ones like AliExpress, Taobao Live, and Cam-Card. They join other greats already banned as Tik Tok, PUBG, UC browser, WeChat, CamScanner, Baidu Search and Weibo are not allowed in India.
The Indian government said the action was taken under Section 69A of the TI Act. He accused the apps of engaging in activities detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, its defense, security and public order.
The government has decided to squeeze the influence and dominance of Chinese apps in India in the face of growing tensions between the two countries, especially as they have been accused of misusing the data of Indian citizens and companies, monitoring and participate in anti-India activities. .
