HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh police rescued a dentist in Anantapur from kidnappers on Wednesday after a manhunt.
Following the alert from the Telangana police about the movement of the kidnappers’ vehicle with the victim’s dentist, Behjaat Hussain, who was kidnapped from his home on the edge of the Rajendra Nagar police station in Telangana, he was rescued. Ananthapuram police intercepted the kidnappers’ vehicle, saved the victim and detained two kidnappers, while the other two kidnappers managed to escape.
According to the Anantapur police, Kismatpur resident Dr. Behjaat Hussain was abducted from his hospital in Kismatpur on Tuesday at 1 pm by five unknown people wearing burqas.
The kidnappers initially confined him to an unidentified location in Hyderabad. The kidnappers spoke in Marathi.
However, after abducting Hussain, who was a professor at a dental college in Hyderabad and also runs a small clinic from his home at Prestige Royal Villas in Rajendranagar’s Kismatpur, the criminals called his family and demanded a ransom of Rs 10. crore in Bitcoins.
“Hussain has inherited property and the criminals knew about it. One of the accused is a relative of Hussain,” Cyberabad police said.
“The dentist was targeted because he is financially sound. The kidnappers demanded 10 million rupees through Bitcoins. At the suggestion of the Hyderabad police, while we tried to intercept them in Anantpur, they escaped to Kanaganapalli. A defendant named Sanjay, he was caught in a chase, while three others ran into nearby fields. The victim’s hands and legs were tied.
