Anurag Kashyap ‘vehemently denies’ sexual misconduct charges, provides evidence that she was not in India at time of incident – bollywood

One day after filmmaker Anurag Kashyap appeared for questioning in the sexual assault case brought against him by an actress, he has denied all the allegations in a statement from his lawyer Priyanka Khimani. “Mr. Anurag Kashyap has denied all wrongdoing in the matter and has provided his statement to the police,” the lawyer wrote.

Calling the complaint an ‘outright lie’, the statement continued: “Mr. Kashyap has provided documentary evidence of the fact that throughout August 2013 he was in Sri Lanka in connection with the filming of one of his films. Mr. Kashyap has categorically denied that there was an alleged incident of this kind and has also denied all allegations made against him. “

The allegations have been made for the purpose of vilifying the filmmaker, the statement continues. “Mr. Kashyap is distressed by the reckless and false accusations that have been made against him and which have caused pain to him, his family and his followers. Mr. Kashyap intends to vigorously pursue the legal remedies available to him. “

The filmmaker has “sought severe actions against” the complainant, for “misusing the criminal justice system and for kidnapping the Yo Also Movement for her ulterior motives.”

The actor, who had filed an FIR against the filmmaker, accusing him of sexual misconduct, had said that she is the one being questioned while the “culprit relaxes at home.” The head of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma, was quick to respond to the actress’s tweet and assured her that she has also written to the Director General of Maharashtra Police (DGP) regarding the same.

Mumbai police had filed an FIR against Anurag after the actor accused him of rape in 2013. Anurag had dismissed the allegations as “unfounded”. The FIR was registered under Sections 376 (I) of the Indian Penal Code (rape), 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with the intent to violate her modesty), 341 (undue restraint) and 342 (confinement undue), an official said, adding that more investigations are underway, according to PTI.

Anurag called the actor’s claim an attempt to “silence him” for his outspoken opinions. Earlier, his lawyer tweeted: “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply hurt by the false accusations, which are completely false, malicious and dishonest.”
