Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has been charged with rape by an actress, has been summoned to appear at the Versova police station on Thursday. “Mumbai police summon film director Anurag Kashyap (in the file photo) asking him to appear at the Versova police station tomorrow at 11 am, in connection with the alleged sexual assault against the actor,” ANI reported.
Kashyap, in a statement from his lawyer, has called the accusations “unfounded”. “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply hurt by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently emerged against him. These accusations are completely false, malicious and dishonest, ”his lawyer Priyanka Khimani said in a statement.
The actor, who had filed a rape case against Kashyap last week, met with Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari on Tuesday to demand action against the filmmaker. She was accompanied by MP Rajya Sabha Ramdas Athawale. The two had also met with Mumbai Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Vishwas Nangare Patil earlier in the week, seeking safety for the actor.
The actor had previously questioned the delay in arresting Kashyap, warning that he will go on a hunger strike if no action is taken.
Mumbai police had filed an FIR against Anurag after the actor accused him of sexual misconduct in 2013, an official said. The First Informational Report (FIR) was registered at the Versova police station on September 22 after the actress, along with her lawyer Nitin Satpute, approached police, the official said.

The FIR was registered under Sections 376 (I) of the Indian Penal Code (rape), 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to violate her modesty), 341 (undue restraint) and 342 (confinement improper), the official said, adding that more investigations are underway.
In her police report, the actress alleged that Kashyap raped her at a location on Yari Road in Versova in 2013.
