We have often heard Bollywood actresses talk about the pay gap in the industry. While there have always been discussions that male actors are paid more than their female counterparts, Kareena Kapoor Khan has also raised the issue before. But when he asked Anil Kapoor about the wage disparity in the industry, his answer left Kareena speechless.
Anil Kapoor happened to appear as a guest on Kareena’s chat show What Women Want. During the conversation, Kareena talked about male Hollywood actors positioning themselves for their female co-stars to be paid equally for their project. So when Kareena asked if Bollywood actors should start to do the same too, Anil Kapoor instantly replied, “You took a lot of money from me” and she was stunned.
When Kareena said they were breaking down barriers and tried to push the issue a bit further by saying, “But like you said, there are still some people …”, Anil went on to narrate what had happened when the negotiations for Kareena were being discussed. at Veere Di Wedding with the producers.
“‘Yaar, yeh toh hero se zyada paise maang rahi hai’. Maine ball, ‘De do (‘ She demands more money than the hero ‘. I said:’ Give it to her) ‘. Everyone called me too, I said:’ Done ‘ . They were calling me when the negotiations were underway. I said, ‘Bebo jo maangegi, de do (Give Kareena what she wants).’
He further added, “There are so many movies where the lead actress has made more money and maine khushi khushi kiya (I made the movies happily).”
On the job front, Anil Kapoor will next be seen in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Directed by Raj Mehta, the movie also stars Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani and YouTuber Prajakta Koli. He will also be seen in the crime drama Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Bobby Deol.
Kareena, on the other hand, is expecting her second child with her husband Saif Ali Khan. The couple is due to be delivered in March 2021. “We are pleased to announce that we look forward to an addition to our family! Thank you to all of our supporters for all your love and support,” the family’s statement reads.
