Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday ordered an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the abusive posts on social media and the alleged derogatory statements made by some leaders of the YSR congressional party against the state judiciary.
A High Court divisional court, consisting of Judge Rakesh Kumar and Judge J Uma Devi, observed that since the State Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) had failed to take appropriate action against commenters contemptuous of the judiciary, he entrusted the case to the CBI for an impartial investigation.
The court ordered the CBI to take over the investigation, initiate the process against the defendants and submit the report to the High Court within eight weeks. He asked the state government to extend its full cooperation to the CBI in the investigation of the case.

On October 8, the Superior Court concluded the allegations of a petition filed by the Registrar General in which it indicates that the CID had not taken any action on complaints of derogatory posts against judges on social media platforms.
According to the High Court’s senior defender, Lakshmi Narayana, the court had observed that the CID had presented FIR to only a few social media activists, although it was discovered that more than 90 people had made abusive comments against the judiciary for issuing judgments. against the state government. .
“The CID also could not guarantee the elimination of abusive comments on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. It also did not initiate any action against the YSRC leaders who made comments against the judiciary, “he said.
During the hearing, the HC court ruled on the alleged comments made by the president of the assembly Tammineni Sitharam, the deputy minister in chief Narayana Swamy, the parliamentarians Vijayasai Reddy and N Suresh and the former MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan, among others, against the power judicial. He observed that they amounted to a direct attack on the judiciary.
He also noted that the CID was reserving cases against people who criticize the government on social media without acting on the specific complaint from the HC.
Attorney General Sriram and CID attorney Niranjan Reddy said they had no objection if the court orders a CBI investigation without reaching conclusions about the CID.
