Ananya Birla, the daughter of Aditya Birla Group billionaire chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, criticized an American restaurant for being “racist”, saying the Italian-American restaurant in California “literally kicked” her and her family out of its premises.
The singer and artist took to Twitter to share her ordeal on Saturday, saying “this is not right.”
“This @ScopaRestaurant literally kicked me and my family off their premises. So racist. Very sad. You really need to treat your customers well. Very racist. This is not right, “he said in a tweet.
Scopa Italian Roots Restaurant is an Italian-American restaurant by chef Antonia Lofaso in California.
“We waited 3 hours to eat at your restaurant. @chefantonia Your waiter Joshua Silverman was extremely rude to my mother, bordering on racism. This is not right, “Ananya said in another tweet, in which she tagged Lofaso.
She is the daughter of the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and the educator and mental health activist Neerja Birla.
In a tweet, Neerja also lashed out at the restaurant for mistreating them.
“Very shocking… absolutely ridiculous behavior from @ScopaRestaurant. He has no right to treat any of his clients like this, “he said.
“I have never experienced anything like this. Racism exists and is real. Amazing. @ScopaRestaurant, “his son Aryaman Birla also tweeted.
