Anantapur on alert after cyclone threat

ANANTAPUR: The district administration sounded an alert to prevent major damage from the impact of Cyclone Nivar. Gatherer Gandham Chandrudu led teams at the district and mandal levels to act quickly and focus on smaller irrigation tanks and horticultural gardens.

In light of the high alert from heavy rains, Chandrudu ordered mandal officials to take steps to reduce or prevent damage.

Heavy rains coupled with whirlwinds can damage tanks, canals, and orchards for papaya, betel nut, banana, sweet orange, and other crops.

All district volunteers and gram sachivalayam staff were asked to alert people in their jurisdictions about the adverse impact of the cyclone, the collector said, adding that the departments of income and housing were asked to relocate people. who stay in cabins to nearby schools and community hallways.

“We noticed that many irrigation tanks would suffer losses and we directed the minor irrigation department to concentrate on strengthening the tank dams,” he said.

He also said that a control room was opened in the Colectorado to help people.

Similarly, Anantapur SP Satya Esubabu formed special teams to meet all the demands. Teams have been delegated to various parts of the district.
