An army jawan killed in violation of ceasefire by Pakistan at LOC | India News

NEW DELHI: An army jawan was killed Saturday in violation of the ceasefire by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Rajouri Jammu and Kashmir district, according to officials.
The unprovoked shooting from across the border in the Lam area of Nowshera sector took place around 1 am.
The shooting seriously injured Havaldar Patil Sangram Shivaji, who later died, the official said.
The unprovoked fire was met with heavy retaliation by the Indian army. The cross-border fire between the two sides continued for quite some time, the official added.
The latest ceasefire violation came a week after four civilians were killed and several more injured after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations in multiple sectors throughout LOC at J&K.
A day later, India carried out retaliatory punitive fire attacks on posts, bunkers and fuel dumps throughout the LOC in Kashmir, in which between six and seven Pakistani soldiers were reportedly killed and several more injured. Five Indian soldiers and four civilians, including a woman, also lost their lives in the intense cross-border exchange of gunfire.
