As the West Bengal government is involved in the restoration work after Cyclone Amphan, the state government had requested the Ministry of Civil Aviation to postpone the resumption of flights from Kolkata airport.
Accordingly, the flights will resume from Calcutta, 28 May, with a reduced schedule of 20 flights per day, at the airport, said Sunday.
Bagdogra airport will be handling 20 flights per day, 28 May, said officials.
The chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday said West Bengal will urge the Centre to postpone the resumption of the domestic flight services in Kolkata and Bagdogra airports for a couple of days, since the state is going to be busy with the management of the damage caused by the Cyclone Amphan.
The flight services are scheduled to begin on May 25.
Banerjee told reporters that she asked the secretary of state of application of the Civil Aviation Ministry to postpone the services to Kolkata airport, May 30, and to Bagdogra airport to 28 May.
The state has already urged the Centre to put out of the movement of special trains until 27 May.
