Amazon has announced a partnership with the 77-year-old Bollywood star who will bring his voice to Amazon’s digital assistant, making him the first voice of an Indian celebrity on Alexa. Bachchan Alexa skill will offer pranks, weather, advice, shayaris (Urdu poetry), motivational quotes and more. It’s slated to launch in 2021 as a paid experience, but Amazon says you can test what it sounds like by saying this on any Alexa-enabled device: “Alexa, say hi to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.”

With voice technology, we are creating something to interact more effectively with my audience and supporters. “
Amazon India Alexa Experience Leader Puneesh Kumar added: “Mr. Bachchan’s voice is truly memorable for any Indian who has grown up with Bollywood. This combination offers a perfect shade to further delight and simplify our clients’ lives. We are excited to see how our customers will respond when they use Alexa and hear your voice. “

The Jackson Alexa skill is only available in English (US). Amazon’s announcement suggests that Bachchan Alexa’s skill will be limited to India, and the initial demo suggests that she will speak in Hindi. It is unclear if Bachchan will also speak English.
