At the conclusion of his two-day visit to West Bengal, the Union Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah, reiterated his government’s commitment to implement the allegations of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He said that “West Bengal’s borders are not secure and infiltration continues into the state.”
He also attacked the Trinamool congressional government, saying that while “the NDA government aims to build a strong Bengal in a new era of development, CM Mamata Banerjee aims to make his nephew the next prime minister.”
After stating that the days of the Trinamool government are numbered, Shah appealed to the people to “give Narendra Modi’s leadership a chance.”
“We will do ‘Sonar Bangla’ in five years. Our goal is the development of West Bengal, ”he said. “In the next time, BJP will form a government in West Bengal with more than 200 seats. The people who blessed in the Lok Sabha polls will bless us again. “
West Bengal will go to the polls in the next six months.
Accusing CM Banerjee of corruption during Covid-19 pandemic relief work and alleged inaction against political assassinations in the state, the BJP leader said: “In 2010, West Bengal gave the reins of the state to Mamata Banerjee. But ten years later, his promises have proven hollow and people’s hopes have turned to despair. “
“The Trinamool Congress has enacted three sets of laws in the state:” one for (Mamata Banerjee’s) nephew, one for his vote bank, and one for ordinary Bengali. “
The BJP leader also asked the CM to publish a white paper on political assassinations in the state and wondered why the state government has not sent the crime statistics to the National Crime Registry Office.
Earlier in the day, Shah visited a Matua house in Baguihati on the northern outskirts of the city. Accompanied by BJP National Secretary General Kailash Vijayvergiya, BJP National Vice President Mukul Roy, and State Party Leader Dilip Ghosh, Shah had lunch sitting on the floor of Nabin Biswas’ two-story home in the Gauranganagar area. .
Emphasizing that it was necessary to restore West Bengal’s “lost glory”, Shah said the current “appeasement policy” in the state has damaged its longstanding tradition of upholding the nation’s spiritual conscience.
Mocking Shah’s scheduled visit to a Matua family for lunch, the TMC described his refugee community outreach as a “survey stunt” to divert attention from atrocities committed in backward communities in states ruled by the saffron party.
The Union Minister landed in Kolkata on Wednesday night to review the party’s preparation for the 2021 Assembly elections. He began his visit by adorning the statue of Birsa Munda, a freedom fighter who hailed from the Munda tribe. On Thursday he arrived at Bankura, in the western part of the state, which has a large concentration of people from tribal communities, and the BJP had won both parliamentary seats in the district in 2019.
