Amid the rise of Covid, here are the latest state lockout announcements


Amid an increase in coronavirus cases, several states have decided to introduce new restrictions and a curfew in districts witnessing an increase in new infections, among other measures to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

This comes as India’s coronavirus count reaches 90.95,807 with 45,209 new infections within 24 hours. In addition, with 501 more deaths, a total of 1,33,227 people have succumbed to the deadly virus in the country.

List of states where there are new restrictions and night curfews:

Delhi – The capital will not witness a general lockdown, but there will be strict surveillance on the Delhi markets, which have emerged as Covid-19 hotspots. The AAP government has recommended to Delhi merchants to keep spare masks and hand sanitizers for visitors. The Kejriwal government has also raised the fine for not wearing masks in the city to 2,000.

Noida and Ghaziabad – With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing unabated across India, the Noida and Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh will now allow only 100 people to attend marriage functions instead of 200 before. Violators will face tough action, authorities said, adding that the decision was made due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.

Rajasthan – The government of Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan has imposed a night curfew in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Alwar and Bhilwara. According to the ANI news agency, no one except those providing essential and emergency services will be able to leave from 8 pm to 6 am in some cities in Rajasthan. The fine for not wearing a mask has increased from 200 to 500.

Madhya pradesh – The government of the MP has decided to impose a night curfew in five districts due to the increase in Covid-19 cases. The nightly curfew went into effect at the Covid hotspots of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ratlam and Vidisha starting Saturday as the state reported 1,500 cases on Friday, the highest for the state in the past 40 days. . The nightly curfew will be from 10 pm to 6 am the next day. The state government has also decided to close schools until grade 8 until December 31.

Gujarat – After witnessing an increase in coronavirus cases, the Gujarat government has decided to impose a night curfew on three cities in the state, including Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot on November 21. The streets looked deserted today when a nightly curfew was imposed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day.

Himachal Pradesh – Markets and shops remain closed in Shimla following the order of the district administration to close the markets on Sundays until there are new orders. Also, stores that sell groceries, milk, fruits, vegetables, meat, medicine, and restaurants are exempt.

Haryana – After around 174 students and 107 teachers tested positive for coronavirus, the Haryana state government closed schools again until the end of November.
