NEW DELHI: As India seeks the early withdrawal of troops from the remaining areas of Ladakh then Pangong Tso, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi Sunday he reiterated BeijingThe position that the border issue was not the “complete story” of the bilateral relationship and the two countries need to create “conducive conditions” to resolve the dispute and move forward.
Speaking at his annual press conference, while saying that India and China were partners and not rivals, Wang again blamed India for the border blast last year and called for countries to handle disputes appropriately.
Responding to a question about ties with India, Wang said the “right and wrong” of what happened at the border were clear and “also what is at stake,” suggesting that the two sides are moving forward. In his recent interaction with Foreign Minister Wang S Jaishankar However, he had pointed out that ties could not be reestablished as long as there were tensions on the border caused by aggressive actions by China.
“The two parties must help each other to be successful rather than undermine each other. We should intensify cooperation rather than harbor suspicions, ”Wang said.
“We are committed to resolving the border dispute through dialogue. At the same time, we are determined to safeguard our sovereign rights, ”he added, refraining from direct comment on the withdrawal and de-escalation efforts in eastern Ladakh.
Wang had a phone conversation with Jaishankar recently in which the latter had emphasized that with the completion of the disconnection in the Pangong area, the two parties must act quickly to resolve the remaining issues throughout the LACQUER in eastern Ladakh.
Wang said the world hopes that China and India will safeguard their common interests and promote multipolarity in the world. “On many important issues, our positions are the same or close due to similar national realities, therefore China and India are friends and partners, not threats or rivals,” he said.
Wang said it was the responsibility of both sides to solidify the existing consensus, strengthen dialogue and communication, and improve various management mechanisms to jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas.
On how China seeks to advance its relations with India after the border clash, Wang said: “Together we can bring greater benefits to the 2.7 billion people in China and India, make greater contributions to the advent of the Asian century.” He added that the China-India relationship was essentially about how the world’s two largest countries get along and pursue development and rejuvenation together.
