The Pune district administration has closed all schools and training institutions, among other restrictions imposed to curb the increase in coronavirus cases. The decision was made after Chief Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar met with senior officials to assess the coronavirus situation in the district.
Educational institutions have been ordered to remain closed until February 28.
Hotels, restaurants, and wedding venues can only operate until 11 p.m., based on an order. No more than 200 people will be allowed in wedding ceremonies and public gatherings.
There will be restrictions on the movement of people from 11 pm to 6 am. People will only be allowed to do essential jobs. Those who indulge in essential activities such as distributing newspapers, vegetable sellers are excluded from the sidewalks.
Written permission from the police will be required for any public activity.
Earlier today, a minister said the state government is considering imposing a night curfew to curb the rise of the coronavirus and that a decision can be made on it at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
“Coronavirus cases are increasing in Nagpur, Akola, Amaravati, Yavatmal, Mumbai and Pune. We have asked the district administration to heed the call about closure or imposition of other restrictions to control cases in their respected districts after to assess the situation on the ground, “
State Minister Vijay Wadettiwar said.

Maharashtra declared new restrictions in two districts, as coronavirus numbers began to slowly rise in the state after being paralyzed for two months. The State Department of Health reported Saturday that 6,281 new cases of COVID-19 and 40 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The total cases in the state increased to 20,93,913, including 48,439 active cases and 19,92,530 total recoveries. The death count in the state rose to 51,753, including new deaths, the state department said.
