On Saturday, Joe Biden had accused Donald Trump of “abdicating responsibility” and pressured the outgoing president to immediately sign the pending COVID-19 relief bill.
“It’s the day after Christmas, and millions of families don’t know if they’ll be able to make ends meet due to President Donald Trump’s refusal to sign a financial aid bill passed by Congress with an overwhelming bipartisan majority,” Joe . Biden said in a statement.
Members of both parties had urged Donald Trump to sign the $ 2.3 trillion packages, The Hill reported. Previously, the bill was passed with the support of both parties in the United States Congress.
Earlier today, leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said the United States is heading toward the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming weeks as Americans will see the effects of the Christmas season.
“The reason I’m concerned and my colleagues in public health are concerned is that we could very well see a post-seasonal increase, in the sense of Christmas, New Years,” Dr. Anthony Fauci quoted CNN as saying.
“We are really at a very critical point. So I share President-elect Joe Biden’s concern that as we move into the next few weeks, things could get worse,” added Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Joe Biden had said last week that the “darkest days” against the coronavirus “are ahead, not behind us.”
Total COVID-19 cases in the United States passed the 19 million mark on Sunday (local time), according to the United States-based Johns Hopkins University, which tracks and collects data from various sources, including local authorities and the media.
