According to the company, this year the Great Indian Festival has held the largest opening in history.
The Amazon Great Indian Festival 2020 sale saw the e-commerce giant selling more iPhones in one day than it did last year during its entire holiday sale. The big discount on the iPhone 11 which was trading for Rs 47,999 had a huge impact on sales. According to the company, this year the Great Indian Festival held the largest opening in history. It will last until October 21. In addition to smartphones, Amazon said that major appliances, consumer electronics including Apple, OnePlus, Samsung and Xiaomi sold products in record numbers. It should be noted that this year online sales have also increased due to the COVID-19 outbreak despite some initial setbacks.
Among popular searches, people searched for top-selling electronics, including smartphones, headphones, laptops, cameras, tablets, and smart watches. Security cameras and drones also became popular searches this year. While Apple led phone sales, laptops from Asus, HP, and Lenovo became the top-selling brands. For tablets, people preferred Samsung and Apple, while TP Link and Netgear were sought after in networking products, Amazon said.
The discounts brought many shoppers to the Amazon sale festival. The company reported that even Kindle devices sold 2.5 times more on the first day compared to total sales last year. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Echo (3rd generation) entered the top 10 best-selling products on the website during the sales period.
Additionally, Amazon has claimed that there is an 85 percent increase in people (from last year) who signed up as Prime members so they can get early access to this year’s sales. As for Alexa, the devices at people’s locations responded to around 1 million requests and helped customers navigate the different stores and purchases. In addition, 1.10,000 vendors received many orders.
