Amarinder Singh withdraws letter demanding agricultural protest by government

Amarinder Singh ordered the immediate withdrawal of a letter calling for a protest from the state government.

Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered the immediate withdrawal of an official letter that incorrectly claimed that the state government had organized some agricultural protests.

“The Chief Minister of Punjab today ordered the transfer of the BDPO from Sardulgarh to the headquarters and the immediate withdrawal of the letter issued by him regarding some agricultural protests that he incorrectly claimed to have been organized by the State Government,” it read in a press release from the Chief Minister of Punjab. Office.

The Sardulgarh Bloc Panchayat and Development Officer (BDPO), on his own, announced the protest dharna on September 21 and issued a letter asking all Panchayat secretaries under his bloc to inform all sarpanches about the same.

The state government had not planned such protests against agricultural ordinances nor had it asked the BDPO to issue a letter, the Punjab CMO said.
