New Delhi:
Doctors have successfully sewn the severed wrist of the policeman who was attacked while imposing closure orders in Patiala in Punjab, Prime Minister Amarinder Singh said.
ASI Harjeet Singh’s wrist was cut, while two other officers were injured when a group of people attacked them at a vegetable market in Patiala this morning.
Singh tweeted that it took about seven and a half hours of surgery to operate on the policeman’s injured hand.
“I thank the entire team of doctors and support staff for their hard work. Wishing ASI Harjeet Singh a speedy recovery,” Singh posted on Twitter.
Punjab Police Chief Dinkar Gupta also tweeted that Harjeet Singh was recovering well.
“I just spoke to the chief plastic surgeon who performed the successful surgery to sew the hand of our brave ASI Crown Warrior Harjeet Singh. He also spoke to Harjeet, who is in a good mood. We still have to wait and watch the next five days. “Mr. Gupta tweeted.
Gupta previously told NDTV that a vehicle transporting Nihangs, a religious sect, “crashed into several barricades on the outskirts of the vegetable market” around 6 am. When the police team stopped them and demanded to see their curfew passes, violators of the blockade attacked the police party, he said.
Punjab, where thousands of people who stayed abroad returned after the start of the outbreak, extended the blockade until May 1.
