All shops, except medical stores to remain shut in containment zones till May 17

Amid the growing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the district, the Pune Municipal Commissioner issued an order on Sunday to close all the shops in the containment zones from May 11 to May 17.

“In all the 69 containment zones of the city, only hospitals and medical stores will be allowed to remain open,” the order states.

This means that in the containment zones, as per the order of the collector, all other shops except for medical stores will have to remain shut as a precautionary measure till May 17.

The order further states that the PMC will deliver milk and vegetables at home in case there is a shortage in the containment zones.

On Saturday, 160 new coronavirus positive cases and four deaths were reported in Pune. Of the four deaths reported, three were from Sassoon General Hospital and one from Symbiosis Hospital.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 count crossed 60,000 on Sunday, with Maharashtra being the worst-affected state with over 20,200 positive cases.
