NEW DELHI: Private hospitals that are not included in the central government scheme can administer the Covid-19 vaccine, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The center has urged the states and territories of the Union to use 100% of the capacities of private hospitals that function as Covid Vaccination Centers (CVC).
“Private hospitals that do not belong to Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the central government health plan (CGHS) and state health insurance plans can also operate as CVCs if they have an adequate number of vaccinators, adequate space for the observation of the vaccinated, adequate provision of the cold chain and adequate provision for the management of AEFI ”, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
“The states / UT can make proactive efforts to use these private hospitals as CVCs,” he added.
The Health Ministry reiterated that there is no shortage of Covid vaccines and that adequate vaccine doses should be assigned to CVCs.
“The states / UT should not store, reserve, conserve or create a reserve stock of Covid vaccines at the state and district level. The central government has an adequate stock and will provide the necessary vaccine doses to the states and UT,” said the Ministry of Health. .
So far, more than 1.54 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country.
