A A known cleric in Pakistan has said that the coronavirus pandemic has been unleashed against humanity due to lies, deceit and dishonesty of people, among other things, during a telethon to raise funds for victims of respiratory disease.
According to ANI news agency, Maulana Tariq Jameel made the comments during the Ehsaas Telethon fundraising event on Thursday, during which Prime Minister Imran Khan was also present.
The religious leader spoke for almost an hour and said that the goal was not to fight the coronavirus pandemic but to be humble before God. He then blamed the pandemic for the prevalence of lies, dishonesty, and betrayals in society, dishonesty, and wealth accumulation by fraudulent means.
Jameel had also condemned the media for what he said he was spreading lies.
“The prime minister is here, the anchors are sitting here … Do we consider how we are going to face judgment day because of our deception?” I ask.
“The owner of a very large channel asked me for advice; I told him to abolish all the lies on his channel. The owner replied that the channel would be close but that the lies would not end … This is not only here, but the media around the world is the same, “he said.
He later apologized for those comments, saying it was a slip of the tongue.
“Who has torn honor to pieces in my country? Who makes the daughters of my country dance? Who is asking them to wear skimpier clothing? Who should I blame for this sin? he said.
“I seek the forgiveness of Allah that I could not make my community understand. When the daughter of a Muslim chooses the path of indecency and the youth choose vulgarity … The greatest curse of God was on the people of Lut when they crossed all the limits of indecency and were cursed five times, “he said.

The Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP) withdrew the cleric for his statement against women.
“HRCP is horrified by the recent statement by Maulana Tariq Jamil that inexplicably correlates the” modesty “of women with the Covid pandemic.19 Such blatant objectification is unacceptable and, when broadcast on public television, only aggravates the misogyny rooted in the society, “the commission tweeted.
