Kolkata Knight Riders pacemaker Ali Khan is injured but has not been ruled out for IPL 2020. An IPL press release on Wednesday (October 7) began by saying that Khan was injured and will miss the rest of the season. However, Cricbuzz has learned that the 29-year-old, who became the first US player to be signed by an IPL franchise, is in trouble, but has been training regularly with the team.

Khan was drafted into the KKR setup after Nottinghamshire left arm pacemaker Harry Gurney suffered a shoulder injury prior to the T20 Blast in England. Khan rose to fame after his big break that came in 2018 when then-Trinbago Knight Riders captain Dwayne Bravo spotted him at Global T20 Canada.

Khan ended up appearing in the CPL that year, picking up 16 wickets in 12 games in his debut season, second-best among all fast bowlers in the competition.

Khan also collected eight wickets for TKR in CPL 2020. He has also appeared in the Bangladesh Premier League and the Pakistani Super League while playing an ODI and has a career spanning 36 T20 in which he has collected 38 wickets.
