A month after it was announced, actor Akshay Kumar tweeted a preview of an Indian alternative to banned PUBG called Fau-G, on the occasion of Vijaydashami. Very soon #FAUGteaser became a trend on Twitter with lots of opinions and memes about the new multiplayer battle royale game.

The teaser is based on the Sino-Indian showdown in the Galwan Valley and shows army personnel from both sides engaged in a duel in which the Indian side is victorious. The clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in June resulted in the banning of multiple Chinese apps, including TikTok and PUBG, by the Indian government.

The video, which is about a minute long, shows the soldiers in hand-to-hand combat and reveals nothing more about the game or the gameplay.

“Today we celebrate the victory of good over evil, and what better day to celebrate our Fearless United Guards, our FAU-G! On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, presenting the #FAUG teaser, ”the actor tweeted highlighting the Atmanirbhar initiative.

On social media, while some applauded the trailer, others said it didn’t seem to match other PUBG alternatives:

Despite allegations that the game was developed to capitalize on the PUBG ban, the creators of FAU-G had said the project was already in the pipeline before the ban was imposed.
