Lahore Former Pakistani sprinter Shoaib Akhtar announced on social media that he received a legal warning for calling the legal adviser to the Pakistan Cricket Board incompetent. He went on to say that the legal notice is based on lies by Tafazzul Rizvi and that he still keeps his words.
Akhtar’s post stated: “I have received a notice from Tafazzul Rizvi that is based on lies and fabrications. I have hired @ SalmanKNiazi1 as my attorney to send a proper legal response on my behalf to that notice. I keep my words regarding Rizvi’s incompetence and unsatisfactory performance. “
Akhtar had previously criticized the PCB and its legal team after the three-year ban given to hitter Umar Akmal.
The Rawalpindi Express had also criticized Rizvi, whom he described as an “inept person” for being tough on Akmal but not being able to “read a basic contract.”
Following this, Rizvi filed a criminal and defamation suit against Akhtar. In a statement, PCB said it was disappointed with Akhtar’s “poor choice of words” and that Rizvi had initiated the proceedings at his own discretion.
Former Pakistani captain Younus Khan has come in support of Akhtar. What a worthy and bitter truth spoken by Shoaib Akhtar! A spine is needed to be simply uncompromising. It is time for the Pakistan Cricket Board to honestly evaluate your comments to improve Pakistan cricket and its players. I am with Shoaib Akhtar, ”Younus said on Twitter.
