HYDERABAD: MIM Floor leader in the Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi sparked a wasp’s nest controversy by demanding the demolition of the Samadhis of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and former Prime Minister NT Rama Rao near Hussainsagar rather than demolishing the houses of the poor.
The Chandrayangutta MLA criticized Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for making false promises to the people who monitor the GHMC elections. Owaisi spoke at an election meeting in the Sultan Nagar division on Tuesday night.
He criticized the government for allegedly targeting the underprivileged while dealing with invasions around water bodies and challenged the party to demolish PV Ghat and NTR Ghat, which are usurpations in Hussainsagar.
“If we question them, they say that Maqta Madar Sahab’s house came up illegally,” he said.
Owaisi claimed that when Hussainsagar was created, it was on an area of 4,700 acres. Today the area has been reduced to 700 acres. He wondered what had happened to the remaining 4,000 acres and if the space would become Necklace Road and the Narasimha Rao and NTR samadhis. It is worth mentioning that the TRS government is holding Narasimha Rao’s centennial celebrations and had also demanded the installation of his statue in Parliament.
He said the government is making false promises to appease voters. The government’s ‘Intensive Household Survey’ says 6.10 lakh families were eligible for two-bedroom apartments. Now they claim that the houses of a lakh are ready. Five years have passed but the government did not give them shelter, he said.
The MIM leader said thousands of young people lost their jobs during the shutdown. After the closure, 24 lakh youth applied for jobs at the Telangana Public Service Commission.
The TRS party is also making big promises for the poor this time. He said that he now promises to provide free drinking water up to 20 thousand liters. He said that if they are concerned about the problems of ordinary people, then they should give up the electricity bills generated during the closing period.
He recalled that he had warned Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not to support the Modi government when he demonetized the currency and opposed when the GST was introduced.
Owaisi said that the MIM knows how to break through to gain power and also knows how to take down. Now KT Rama Rao is saying that his party has no alliance with MIM, yes, there is nothing wrong with that. MIM does not exist at the mercy of anyone. “We know how to snub TRS by putting our foot on its tail,” he said.
