Airtel Xstream broadband plans get unlimited data and a new Rs 499 plan

Airtel has announced new broadband plans for the Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband service. The new plans include the addition of a new Rs 499 plan, as well as the switch to unlimited data on all subscription plans, regardless of the speed you choose. This means that Airtel has removed the Rs 299 unlimited data plug-in that users had to add to their Airtel Xstream fiber broadband subscription to get unlimited usage every month. The new Airtel Xstream broadband plans come just days after Reliance Jio announced the new JioFiber broadband plans that switched to the benefit of unlimited data for all plans, for all users. The new Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband rate plans start with the Airtel Xstream Unlimited plan, which is priced at Rs 499 per month and offers unlimited data at a speed of 40 Mbps. This is a new addition to the line, to compete with Reliance JioFiber’s Rs 399 plan offering unlimited data at 30Mbps speed.

The Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 plans have been updated, while the Rs 3,999 flagship plan has not been modified. This means that the Airtel Xstream Premium plan priced at Rs 799 now offers unlimited data at a speed of 100 Mbps. The Airtel Xstream Entertainment plan at Rs 999 per month now offers unlimited data at a speed of 200 Mbps. The Airtel Xstream plan Ultra now also offers unlimited data at a speed of 300 Mbps. The Airtel Xstream VIP plan priced at Rs 3,999 always included unlimited data usage at speeds of 1 Gbps; continues to offer the same benefits. Existing customers are also expected to move to the new unlimited data benefit in the coming days. Earlier today, we had noticed the removal of the Rs 299 unlimited data add-on option from the Airtel website, which we believed was the first indication that new Airtel Xstream Fiber broadband plans were coming in (you can read more about that here).

Airtel has updated its rate plans by removing previously set data limits so that data packages are unlimited on all Airtel Xstream fiber broadband plans. At the same time, Airtel has not changed the price and continues with the price points of Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 as before, albeit with unlimited data benefits. This was somewhat expected and the announcement comes just days after Reliance Jio announced the attractive new broadband plans for the JioFiber broadband service.

With the Rs 499 Unlimited and Rs 999 Premium plans, Airtel Xstream users will get the included subscription for the Airtel Xstream video streaming platform. Subscribers to the Airtel Xstream Entertainment, Airtel Xstream Ultra and Airtel Xstream VIP plans will receive the subscription to the included Airtel Xstream video streaming platform, as well as subscriptions for Disney + Hotstar, Amazon Prime and Zee5.

Until now, Airtel’s Fair Use Policy (FUP) differentiating between home and business use for unlimited plans was 3333GB per month, and it is expected to continue as we do. Reliance Jio has a data FUP policy of 3300GB per month for the new JioFiber plans.

Airtel also says that all Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband subscribers can get the Airtel Xstream Box for TV as part of the subscription; otherwise this is priced at R3,999. This Android TV direct-to-home (DTH) set-top box (STB) allows users to access video streaming platforms such as Disney + Hotstar, Amazon Prime, and Zee 5 to name a few, as well as live TV channels . The Airtel Xstream TV service offers 550 live TV channels.

A few days ago, Reliance Jio dropped a bomb by announcing JioFiber’s new line of broadband plans for existing customers and new users as well, with unlimited data. This includes all plans priced between Rs 399 and Rs 3,999 with speeds being offered between 30 Mbps and 1 Gbps.

The new Reliance JioFiber plans start at Rs 399 per month. Specifically, there are now four plans to choose from: the Rs 399 entry plan for 30 Mbps speed, the Rs 699 for 100 Mbps speed, Rs 999 for 150 Mbps speed and Rs 1,499 for 300 Mbps speed. These plans now They offer unlimited data, as well as unlimited voice calls, thus removing the previous data limit that some of these plans had. For example, the Rs 699 plan offering 100Mbps speed was previously unlimited up to 350GB of data per month.

With the updated JioFiber broadband plans for home users, there are comparatively more bundled subscriptions for streaming platforms as well. This will depend on the plan you choose. The Rs 999 plan offers bundled subscriptions for 11 apps, while the Rs 1499 plan includes 12 app subscriptions. Apps that are part of the bundle include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar, Zee5, Sony Liv, Lionsgate Play, and Alt Balaji.
