Airtel selects Ceragon to densify and expand 4G network in rural IndiaNEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has selected Ceragon microwave radios, the outdoor multi-core solution and related services for further expansion of the 4G network in the country, as well as preparing for its future evolution to 5G.

Expansion has already started in rural areas, the telecommunications company said in a statement.

Airtel said it is seeking to increase its network capacity to address the growing demand for broadband amid a sharp increase in data consumption across India.

ETTelecom reported in March that the telecommunications company led by Sunil Mittal was seeking to aggressively expand its wireless or 4G broadband coverage in rural areas of the country to match Reliance Jio’s network coverage in the next twenty-four months.

Ceragon is working closely with Airtel to achieve the rapid deployment of its microwave radios, to the best of its ability, given the recent temporary closure of India.
