The AirAsia India spokesman said the airline had signed an agreement to install five A320 neo jets last year. The Bengaluru-based airline received the first A320 neo in October and another earlier this month.

Budget airline AirAsia India plans to add three more Airbus A320 neo jets by June next year as part of its fleet and network expansion. The airline, a joint venture between Tatas and AirAsia Investment Ltd of Malaysia, currently has 32 aircraft, including two recently installed A320s.
In a statement to PTI, an AirAsia India spokesperson said the airline had signed an agreement to install five A320 neo jets last year. The Bengaluru-based airline received the first A320 neo in October and another earlier this month.
“We will install our third Airbus A320 neo in December and we expect to install our fourth and fifth A320 neo by June 2021,” the spokesperson said in the statement. The statement was issued in response to inquiries sent to the airline’s CEO and CEO Sunil Bhaskaran.
On November 17, Malaysia’s AirAsia Berhad said it was reviewing its investment in AirAsia India. In this context, there have also been concerns about the national airline. Noting that AirAsia India is on the way to expansion, the airline’s spokesman said it plans to increase capacity to 70 percent from 55 percent today.
“Soon we are planning to expand our capacity to 70 percent,” the statement said. Domestic commercial flights were suspended for two months starting March 25 to curb the spread of coronavirus Infections
The Civil Aviation Ministry allowed to increase capacity to 45% as of June 27 from a maximum of one third at the time of the resumption of domestic flights as of May 25. It was increased to 60% as of September 2. allowed to operate at 70 percent of pre-COVID-19 capacity since November 11.
Earlier this month, AirAsia India’s senior officials informed travel agents that it is still on the path of serving the Indian market by increasing its network and scale of operations.
