With the increase of pollutants in the atmosphere, the air quality deteriorated further and the Air Quality Index of the Anand Vihar region stood at 405 and was marked in the ‘severe category’. Areas such as ITO, Rohini, Dwarka, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Sri Aurobindo Marg and various other locations were marked in the ‘very poor’ category as data from the Central Pollution Control Board. According to experts, the severe category affects people’s health and seriously affects those with existing diseases. An AQI between 0-50 is marked as good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 is moderate, 201-300 is bad, 301-400 is very bad, and 401-500 is considered severe.

Amid rising pollution levels, people are having trouble breathing and some children have started to get throat problems from the polluted air.

Recently, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) filed with the Delhi High Court which has issued instructions to the enforcement agencies including the State Pollution Control Boards, construction agencies, municipal bodies, the traffic police and Delhi department of transport and NCR for strict action against the air. polluting activities.
