Air India exempts sanctions for rescheduling reservations to the United Kingdom, Oman and Saudi Arabia until December 31


National airline Air India announced on Tuesday free one-time ticket rescheduling for passengers traveling from the UK, Oman and Saudi Arabia following the government’s decision to halt air travel in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Air India said passengers who were booked to travel on now-suspended flights from the UK, Oman and Saudi Arabia can take advantage of a one-time free rescheduling for trips completed within Dec. 31.

“All fines for rescheduling, cancellation or one-time route change will not apply to reservations between December 22 and 31,” it further said.

While travel to the UK has been suspended until December 31 due to a new strain of coronavirus found there, services to Oman and Saudi Arabia have been temporarily halted for a week following a directive from these countries to control the spread. of Covid-19.

Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry suspended all business travel for a week starting Monday, warning that it could be extended further depending on the circumstances. Oman has also decided to stop passenger traffic by air, land and sea for a week; freight, however, is exempt from this prohibition.

The Union Ministry of Health published on Tuesday a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for epidemiological surveillance to guide international airports and state governments regarding actions to be taken after passengers begin arriving at the country from the UK.

Air India along with British Airways, Vistara and Virgin Atlantic had been flying to and from the UK under an air bubble deal between the two countries.
