The counting of votes in the tight elections of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started in Hyderabad today at 8 am.
The Telangana State Elections Commission (SEC) has made elaborate arrangements for counting at 30 locations in the city amid tight security with the help of more than 8,000 people.

After campaigning in the city for regional and national political parties, elections for the GHMC elections were held in 150 districts on December 1.
Out of the total 150 districts in the GHMC, voting was conducted for 149 districts on December 1 and a new poll was conducted on Thursday in one district (Old Malakpet) after a ballot error was noted during voting. .
The vote witnessed around 46.55 percent (34.50 lakh) of voter turnout out of the total 74.67 lakh of voters.
This time, Hyderabad used ballot papers for the elections. The results are likely to be known in the afternoon or evening.
GHMC polls saw a noisy campaign
The run-up to the vote saw a noisy campaign by political parties.
High-level leaders including Interior Minister Amit Shah, Nadda Party Chief, Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Smriti Irani and MoS (Home) G Kishan Reddy, a member of Lok Sabha from Secunderabad, a party deputy and national president of BJYM Tejasvi Surya participated in the campaign.
The BJP had highlighted the TRS “alliance” with AIMIM, however, the ruling TRS denied any alliance with AIMIM.
The BJP sought votes to provide a clean and transparent administration in Hyderabad.
TRS’s campaign was led by its Acting Chairman and State Minister for Municipal Administration, KT Rama Rao, while the party supreme and chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, addressed a public meeting in the city.
