AIMIM is not a friend of TRS, he gave us support: KTR

Hyderabad: TRS Acting Chairman KT Rama Rao said Thursday that his party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, had no friends or had a formal alliance with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal elections . Corporation (GHMC).

Responding to journalists’ questions on a ‘Meet the Press’ program organized by the Hyderabad Press Club, he clarified: “AIMIM is not a friend of TRS. As a political party, the MIM was impressed with the policies of TRS and therefore supported us. “

The minister said that it was normal in politics for a political party to extend its support based on issues to other parties or a government, while retaining the right to be opponents in the electoral contest.

The TRS, which had been fighting the “anti-popular policies of the BJP government” in the Center, had extended its support to the Union government when the GST was implemented.

He said that in previous GHMC elections, TRS had defeated MIM candidates in five divisions of the old city and narrowly lost a couple of others. “On this occasion, we hope to win more than 10 seats in the old city by defeating the MIM candidates.”

Countering BJP statements in which the saffron party accused TRS of resorting to the policy of appeasement of Muslims and that TRS planned to hand over the position of mayor to the MIM, Rama Rao replied: “Have we gone crazy? Why will the TRS even consider such a move? A candidate from our party will be the next mayor of Hyderabad on December 4. “

Stating that the TRS was contesting all 150 divisions in the GHMC elections, he emphatically asserted that his party would do so only in the elections and would not have any alliance with any party nor would it extend its support to any other party.
