A security guard who was given a Covaxin injection at AIIMS here on Saturday was admitted to the hospital after he developed an allergic reaction as part of “serious” adverse events after vaccination.
According to AIIMS director Randeep Guleria, the security guard, in his 20s, at AIIMS who received the jab after 4pm, complained of palpitations and developed an allergic skin rash within 15-20 minutes after inoculation and was admitted to the facility.

Facing the target of 8,117 healthcare workers to be vaccinated on the first day of the campaign in 11 districts of Delhi, a total of 4,319 were given the vaccine, the figures showed.
Officials said some cases of AEFI were seen in some people who were given the vaccine.
“Some cases of AEFI were reported, but the majority were minor and people normalized during the observation period. Only one severe case of AEFI was reported in South Delhi,” said a senior government official.
