Delhi: On Saturday, Ahmedabad police arrested four people for allegedly spreading misinformation about the health of the Union’s interior minister, Amit Shah, by creating a fake Twitter account on his behalf.
Earlier in the day, Shah had released a statement saying that the rumors about his health were spreading through social media, and that he was in good health and had no illness.

The local crime branch arrested four people for spreading misinformation about Shah’s health, said special police commissioner (crime) Ajay Tomar.
A screenshot of a fake Twitter account in the name of Shah with his photo, claiming that he suffered from a serious illness, had gone viral on social media platforms, Tomar said.
The suspects were detained in Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar and questioned, he said.
One case has been registered in this regard under sections 66 (c) (punishment for identity theft) and 66 (d) (cheating by personification using computer resources) of the Information Technology Act, the official said.
