TRICHY: Tamil nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on wednesday he said farm agents They are instigating farmers to hold a protest in Delhi as they will be affected by the three agricultural laws enacted by the Center.
While speaking with journalists in Karur, the CM reiterated that agricultural laws would not affect farmers in Tamil Nadu. He said parties that oppose farm laws in the state were playing a political drama to make progress in the upcoming assembly elections. Palaniswami was in Karur to attend some functions.
On criticism from the opposition that the AIADMK government was unable to prevent NEET in Tamil Nadu, the CM said that it was Congress that introduced NEET and that the DMK, which was part of the UPA, had remained in silence because he wanted to remain in power.
“We tried to prevent but we couldn’t. We then introduced a 7.5% horizontal reserve to benefit 41% of public school students statewide who were denied the opportunity, ”he said.
The CM said 313 students received medical seats this year through the horizontal reserve and that 125-130 more seats will be added next year with the start of 11 new medical schools.
When asked if jallikattu events will be allowed next month amid the pandemic, the CM said that Covid-19 cases were declining, but people are refusing to wear masks.
